RULEBOOK
The official rules and regulations governing Melbourne's Fastest Serve competitions.
Serve Measurement
- 01All serves are measured using Tennis Lab Hawk-Eye technology, calibrated before each session.
- 02Only valid serves (landing in the service box) count toward rankings and draw results.
- 03Faults are recorded but do not count toward a player's fastest serve.
- 04Serves marked "under review" will not appear on public rankings until verified by an official.
Rankings & Points
- 01Ranking points are earned per event based on placement, event tier, and record bonuses.
- 02The best 6 event results within a rolling 12-month period count toward a player's ranking.
- 03Tier multipliers: Major (1.0x), Open (0.75x), Club (0.5x), Qualifier (0.25x).
- 04Bonuses: Personal best (+50), Division record (+100), Overall record (+150).
Draw Format
- 01Seedings are based on entry order — first come, first served. The earlier you register, the higher your seed.
- 02Draws use a Monrad seeding system — seeded athletes are placed to avoid early matchups.
- 03Progression is determined by highest valid verified serve speed, not match score.
- 04Tie-break order: highest serve, second-highest, third-highest, sudden-death, official decision.
- 05Verified winners automatically advance to the next round. Unverified results never advance.
Event Day
- 01Gates open at 4:30 PM. Competition runs from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
- 02Present your QR code at the check-in desk on arrival.
- 03Each athlete receives 3 serve attempts per event (configurable per division).
- 04Wilson demo racquets are available for all players on event day.
Registration & Waiver
- 01Registration is completed online with secure payment before the entry closing date.
- 02Entry fees are non-refundable except in the case of event cancellation.
- 03All participants must accept the waiver and event rules before competing.
- 04The administrator's decision on all matters is final.
Code of Conduct
- 01All athletes must follow instructions from event officials at all times.
- 02Respect for fellow competitors, officials, and equipment is mandatory.
- 03Unsporting conduct may result in disqualification at the official's discretion.
- 04Participants consent to their results being displayed publicly on the MFS platform.
